A working student organization apparel program earns the chapter $1,500 to $4,500 in year one, depending on org size and how many product launches the year covers. The math is simple: catalog base price plus chapter markup equals member price. The markup is pure chapter revenue with no inventory risk. Below is the line-item math for a typical 50-member org running a full year program, and how to push the upper bound higher.

The Pricing Formula

Three numbers per product:

The chapter receives the markup. No print cost, no shipping cost, no inventory cost. Per piece. Every order.

Per-Piece Markup Targets

ProductFree BaseVIP BaseTypical Member PriceFree MarkupVIP Markup
Airlume Cotton Tee$23.93$19.88$32$8.07$12.12

Embroidered Quarter-Zip$35.95$29.88$48$12.05$18.12

Year-One Math For a 50-Member Org

Realistic year-one breakdown for a 50-member org on the Self-Service VIP plan:

RunUnitsMarkup EachTotal
Fall member tee40$12.12$485
Officer polo and quarter-zip set10$18.00$180
Fall hoodie launch30$21.12$634
Rush week tee50$10.00$500
Philanthropy fundraiser tee80$10.00$800
Spring banquet hoodie25$15.00$375
Year One Total235$2,974

That is net to the chapter after the VIP plan cost ($59 x 12 = $708). Year-one return on the VIP plan: 4.2x.

Pushing The Upper Bound

The chapters that hit $4,500+ in year one do three things:

Free Plan vs Self-Service VIP Math

The Self-Service VIP plan ($59 per month, $708 per year) pays off the moment the chapter sells about 80 to 100 pieces in a year. Most active orgs cross that line in the fall semester alone. The Free plan is the right starting point for chapters under 20 members or first-year exploratory shops. After year one of data, move to VIP.

Affiliate Program Stack

Every shop comes with an affiliate link. When the chapter advisor or another officer refers another org, gym, or club that signs up, the chapter earns 10 percent of their subscription forever plus $1 per unit they sell. Three other orgs referred on the VIP plan return $17.70 per month back to the chapter passively. See the affiliate program details for the full structure.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the chapter actually get paid?

Markup revenue is paid out bi-weekly to the shop owner. The chapter receives the accumulated markup from all orders in the prior two-week window.

Does the chapter pay for unsold inventory?

No. There is no inventory. Each piece prints only after a member orders it, then ships directly to the member. Unsold inventory does not exist as a concept.

What if we want to pay a smaller monthly fee?

The Free plan has zero monthly cost. The chapter earns slightly less per piece (the Free base prices are higher), but pays nothing. Run the math both ways.

Can we adjust pricing after launch?

Yes. Member-facing pricing is adjustable any time from the shop dashboard. Most chapters set initial pricing at launch and only adjust after one full semester of data.
