Youth basketball league practice jerseys split the team into two colors at scrimmage time. The traditional approach is a reversible cut-and-sew jersey at $35 to $55 per piece with a 12-piece minimum. The Pro Shops approach is two solid color performance tees per player at $24 each, both carrying the same number. Lower cost, no minimum, and parents can replace just the one that gets shredded mid-season.

Why Not a True Reversible

True reversible practice jerseys are a cut-and-sew construction with the dark color on one side and the light color on the other, held together by stitched seams. They look great. They also cost more per piece, require a 6- to 12-piece minimum on most platforms, and need a full bulk order before the season starts. Pro Shops does not stock cut-and-sew reversibles. The print-on-demand alternative is two single-color shirts per player. Practical, cheaper, no minimum.

Practice Jersey Layout

The practice jersey is simpler than the game jersey: number only, no name on the back, no logo on the front (or a small chest logo). One shirt prints in the team primary color, one in a contrasting practice color (light vs dark, or two complementary colors). Same number on both shirts so the player keeps their number through every scrimmage.

Practice tee (color A)$23.88$28$4.12

Practice jerseys are priced low so families buy them. Margin is thin per shirt, but a 120-player league at 50% practice attach rate moves 120 shirts and adds $500 to the season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not just buy generic colored shirts at a sporting goods store?

Many leagues do, then run into the problem of mismatched colors, missing sizes, and no team identity. A custom practice tee at $28 with the league logo and player number costs roughly the same as a blank pinnie kit, and the kid keeps it after the season.

Can the practice jersey be a tank instead of a tee?

Yes. The Bella+Canvas Performance Workout Tank works as a practice tank in warmer gyms or summer leagues. The league storefront can stock both as separate SKUs.

What about a true reversible? Does Pro Shops offer one?

Pro Shops is print-on-demand on stocked garments, not cut-and-sew. We do not carry true reversible cut-and-sew practice jerseys. The two-shirt alternative is the closest fit and costs less per player.
