Starting a cycling club merch shop is a one-hour project, not a six-month one. You need a logo file, four to six product picks, and a club newsletter to share the link in. Skip the bulk apparel order. Skip the inventory closet. Skip the size guessing. Here is the actual sequence from idea to first member sale.

Step 1: Prep your logo file

One file does the work for most products: a PNG with a transparent background, 1500+ pixels on the longest side. If your logo is currently a JPG with a white box behind it, get the background removed (any designer will do this in 10 minutes).

Step 2: Pick your starter products

4 to 6 products at launch. The cycling club lineup that works:

  1. Club logo tee (cotton or triblend).
  2. Comfort soft hoodie with back design.
  3. Embroidered rope hat.
  4. Performance long sleeve.
  5. Optional: quarter-zip pullover, cuffed winter beanie, polo.

Pick 2 to 4 color variants per product. Always include black on tees and hoodies. Add a club brand color and a heather or sport grey.

Step 3: Set your markup

Each product has a base price. Add your markup on top to set retail. Most cycling clubs price for $12 to $18 markup per item.

ProductBaseRetail
Cotton tee$19.88$34
Comfort soft hoodie$36.88$56
Embroidered rope hat$29.86$40
Performance long sleeve$29.88$46

Push markup higher on event-specific pieces (fondo finisher tee, anniversary hoodie) where the buying emotion is stronger.

Step 4: Publish and share

Once products are uploaded and prices set, hit publish. The shop is live at a clean URL. Share it in:

First orders usually arrive within 7 to 14 days of going live if the link is in an active newsletter.

Step 5: Plan one seasonal addition per quarter

Every quarter, add or rotate one piece. Winter: cuffed beanie. Spring: a new tee color or a quarter-zip. Summer: a moisture-wicking performance tee. Fall: a long sleeve and an updated hoodie.

Twice a year, run a limited drop: anniversary in spring, fondo finisher in fall. Limited drops usually have higher pickup rates than the baseline shop.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to start a cycling club merch shop?

Under an hour from logo upload to live shop, assuming the logo file is print-ready. Done-For-You VIP can do the full setup for the club in a few business days.

Do we need design skills?

No. A clean logo file is all that is required. The platform handles product mockups, color variants, and the shop layout. Done-For-You VIP handles everything else if you want it built for you.

What if we do not have a club logo yet?

A simple wordmark in a clean sans serif font is enough to start. Many clubs use text-only logos. Upgrade to a designed mark later without rebuilding the shop.

How much does it cost to start?

Free at $0 a month for up to 3 products. Self-Service VIP at $59 a month unlocks 200 products and lower base prices. Done-For-You VIP at $109 a month is full white-glove setup.
