The barber school student kit covers tools, products, and apparel. The tool and product side runs through industry suppliers. The apparel side has historically been the messiest part of the kit: bulk-ordered uniforms in the wrong sizes, smocks the school had to physically warehouse. With a print-on-demand shop, the apparel side of the kit becomes a clean per-student order that ships in about a week. Here is what to stock and how to price it.

What Belongs in the Apparel Side of the Student Kit

The working list for most barber school cohorts:

That is a 4-7 piece apparel kit per student, sized to their own measurements, ordered direct from your shop.

Per-Student Apparel Kit Cost

PieceVIP baseSuggested student retail
2 polos$69.76$80-$90
1 long sleeve$29.88$36
1 crewneck$34.88$42
1 tee$23.88$28
Per-student kit$158.40$186-$196

If the school covers the apparel kit cost as part of tuition, the per-student spend is $158. If you sell it through the shop with a small markup, the school clears $25-$40 per student in margin and the student gets a full kit in their own size.

What About Smocks and Barber Jackets

Traditional barber smocks are a specialty cut not in our standard catalog. For schools that want a branded outer layer for clinic floor work, the working substitute is a long sleeve cotton shirt or a button-style polo worn over a cotton tee. If your program requires a specific smock cut, source the smock from a uniform supplier and use your school shop for everything else: polos, tees, sweatshirts, hats, and graduation pieces.

How to Present the Kit in the Shop

Create a "Student Kit Bundle" section in your shop with all 4-6 pieces grouped together. Each piece is still ordered individually (so sizing works per student), but the section makes the required list obvious. Students do not have to hunt across the catalog to find what they need.

Some schools list the kit pieces in their student handbook with a direct link to each shop listing. That removes any ambiguity about what counts as "school uniform" vs personal clothing.

Each student orders the required pieces in their own size. School clears optional margin. No bulk inventory, no closet of unsold XLs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the student or the school pay for the kit?

Either model works. Some schools roll the kit into tuition and place the orders on behalf of students. Others direct students to the shop and let them self-order.

Can I require a specific kit but let the student pick the size?

Yes. The shop lists the required pieces, the student picks the size during checkout. The kit is locked, the fit is personal.

What if the school logo changes mid-year?

Update the logo file in your dashboard and re-list the pieces. Future orders use the new logo, past orders keep their original.

Can I include a school welcome letter in the kit shipment?

Standard apparel orders ship from our print partners without inserts. For a custom welcome insert, contact your account manager to set up a special-handling arrangement.
